Here’s a quick overview of how our lesson program works:
Our lessons are $22.50 per half hour and are private one on one lessons. The reason we only provide individual lessons instead of a group or classroom is because we feel that each individual student learns at a different pace. When you have more than one student per teacher, the student that is learning the slowest gets most of the teacher’s attention.Hour lessons are available for $45, however for most students (especially new ones) one half hour should give you enough to work on for the remainder of that week.
Here at Gear Music we give you a time and day and that is your lesson time and day until you tell us you need to change or stop. We are, however, bound by the schedule that already exists so sometimes it is hard to get the exact time that you might need if you want to change. We require 24 hour notice if you are stopping lessons. If you are stopping your lessons and we do not have 24 hour notification the instructor will change you for that last lesson.
Payment:
To make things easier for you and for Gear we require a credit card number to be left on file at Gear, which we keep in the safe for your protection. We put the payment for your lessons on your card on the 1st of each month. If you do not feel comfortable leaving us your credit card number, you can write us post dated cheques for the first half of the year. We will need the second half of the year’s post dated cheques made to Gear Music by the end of the last month of the first half. Payments are generally $90 or $112.50 per month depending on how the days fall in the month. You do not have to pay for lessons on statutory holidays
If you wish to pay by cash or debit card for your lessons, you must pay before the first of every month. This way your credit card on file will not be charged. Gear Music DOES NOT give out any personal information from any of our students to anyone at anytime. Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us.
Cancellation policy:
Gear Music has a NO CANCELLATION POLICY. What does this mean? We have many concerned parents and students ask us about our cancellation policy everyday. If you miss your lesson at Gear you will be charged for the lesson by your teacher. Think of it the same way as any sports or continuing education activity. People need a few days off throughout the year when things come up, or for vacation. We give you two weeks vacation (two lessons per student for the year) for the year. This means that you will not be charged for those two weeks whenever you want to take them. You can use these “vacation days” anytime you want to throughout the year either using one at a time or both together. We would appreciate notice when using your two weeks vacation days, but if you have to be away at the last minute just inform your instructor and someone at the counter upstairs afterwards and it will be marked down so that you won’t be charged for that week or two. When you take your vacation weeks that payment will move forward to the next month. Our teachers are professionals, most with a degree in music, or at least 10 years as a pro musician. This is how they make their living and they expect their students to be there every week. Remember your instructor is here at Gear waiting for you because that is your scheduled time. If you are at your lesson every week than you don’t have to worry about the cancellation policy.
We take music lessons very seriously at Gear Music. We feel that music lessons give you much more than just the music itself. Unfortunately music is being ignored more and more in our public schools and we feel that this is wrong. We feel that we have the best teachers for you and your child in Oakville.
If you have any other questions regarding lessons at Gear Music please feel free to ask any of our friendly staff here at Gear.
